Do you know for sure if you leave this world today where you will spend eternity? The Bible says we have the choice of eternal life with Jesus if we will only accept the gift He gave us. You may think you are not good enough, that God would never accept someone like you. The truth is we are all separated from God by sin and we have to be reconciled to God.
Nobody is worthy of anything before God. Romans 3:10 says, "...There is none righteous, no, not one". Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Sin is simply anything that displeases God like breaking His commandments. Righteousness is not having sin. These verses are telling us that everyone has sin. That includes the commoner and the convict, as well as the preacher or the president. We are all equal in our inability to meet God's standard. But if none of us are worthy, how can we be reconciled to God?
God requires a price for sin. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." The natural consequence of sin is death. This verse also says eternal life is a gift in Christ Jesus. A gift is something you receive for free. The gift is free because the giver paid the price, and God is no different. He offers the gift of life because He paid the price of death. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
God loves you! The price is already paid and the gift is given, but like any gift it has to be accepted. Romans 10:9-10 says, "
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." The gift of eternal life is accepted by believing in your heart that Jesus paid the price for your sin by His death on the cross and that God raised Him from the dead. By believing this and confessing Jesus with your mouth you accept the gift of righteousness, and the right to eternal life. Anyone who does this can be saved. That is promised in Romans 10:13, "whoever calls on the name of the
Lord shall be saved".
If you would like to accept that gift now, pray this prayer:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and cannot pay the price for eternal life. I believe in my heart that you paid that price for me, and that God raised you from the dead. I confess you as my Savior now and accept your gift of righteousness by the price you paid. Please come and live in my heart. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."
